Ashlar, an AO hash using Feistel squarings, measures 14,232 gas per 2-to-1 hash on-chain, a 1.28× gain vs Poseidon. It costs 191 R1CS constraints vs 243. Design has no external cryptanalysis—do not deploy. Overhead is 2.46×. Keccak remains 34× cheaper.
