Ethereum Nodes See Major Gains in Performance via Pruning
Ethereum node developers run a performance experiment: execute ~1 year of mainnet blocks on two nodes - one with full state and the other with ~1 year of active state. Result: State size drops by ~78%, block re-execution time improves ~15%, and tail latency decreases by 21%. The pruned node finishes faster due to reduced storage reads and updates.
